the minimum time commitment is around 2 hours/week but you are welcome to practice as much as you like within the platform!

teachers are the course creators at somos and have the flexibility to structure courses to best fit the materials/students' learning goals. 

that said, we recommend eachers to set the course length to be around 4 weeks long.

somos courses are designed to give you as much conversation practice as possible (around 9 hours over a 4 week period).

with that in mind, courses are aimed at students who are least A2/B1 in their target language.

peer-to-peer practice

each week of your course, you'll have a conversation practice session with three other dedicated learners!

your practice group will have its own private voice/video chat room. 

if you'd like to get together and practice more, you most definitely can!

community chat

your teacher and entire cohort will be added to a chat group for the duration of your course!

introduce yourself, ask questions, make friends!

somos is a mission driven social enterprise. it's important we are transparent with how our pricing works. 

everytime you book a course through somos, your payment is split like this:

• 85%* to teachers
• 14% to somos 
• 1% to our impact fund

when you subscribe to a teacher's community, the split is as follows: 

• 91%* to teachers
• 8% to somos 
• 1% to our impact fund

when you take a 1:1 class in your teacher's community, you do so entirely commission free! 

*our teachers are independent sellers and also pay processing fees (ranging from 1.9%+30¢ to 2.9%+30¢) directly to stripe.

you'll be able to meet their other students, access learning materials and view your teacher's exclusive content.
